Pros and cons of PDFpen 5 – PDF Editor app for iPhone and iPad

PDFpen 5 – PDF Editor app good for

I saw some reviews posted that kind of bashed the app. I to was in this mode and looking for a better app. However the start guide that came with the app was of little help. By going to the support page on line I was able to find a manual and so far all my issues have been resolved. My suggestion at this time would be a link under settings to access your site to the manual which is well laid out and easy to follow and offers step by step help. In addition how about making the manual available as a PDF to be added to the document section of the app (please keep the hyper links live). Oh and yes beyond the undo button there is not a eraser, but there is an even better way to correct or delete markings even after closing and reopening the app. Seek out the online manual and you will see. And the manual to the app download and get a 5 star rating.
Ive been using PDFpen for many years now, both on iOS as well as on the Mac. I share my documents via dropbox as well as iCloud. Smile on my Mac has kept up with emerging technologies from Apple as well as other vendors, so when it comes to working with PDFs, PDFpen pro 2 has you covered. I admit, sometimes I dont remember how a particular function works. Then I resort to the well designed help thats available in the “Smile on my Mac” site, including lots of videos that walk me through everything I need to know. This is a great product, and a great value for the money. I use it every day, and have never regretted the purchase. Thanks for taking care of all your customers!
I was turned on to PDFPen from the folks at the Back 2 Work podcast. Ive been blown away at its simplicity and ease of use. Truly a fantastic experience for manipulating and editing pdfs, especially on an iPad Pro.
Ive tried a few form fill apps, and this one is one of the best paid apps (although pricey). Every now and then it can get buggy, but not enough to force me to switch over to another app.
..to the PDFpen Suite. It works like a charm. Its incredibly fast. If you are looking for PDF Editor that does everything great, look no further

Some bad moments

My little brother bought this app by mistake and wasted $20 on it! Can I please get a refund?!
Core features dont work, like the lack of any eraser tool. Inexplicably stopped working with free writing. Evernote integration is pointless.
I bought this software even though it was overpriced for what I used it for because it used to work (a long time ago). I used it to drop a signature in a PDF and make it transparent. Now this software doesnt even do that.. and a whole bunch of basic functions like moving around a document are broken. The images are very blurry when exported and the document jumps all over the place when trying to scroll. Now I figured out how to do it on my Mac for free. Wont buy any future versions of this software.
Update: I hate this app with all my life now. Buggs increased and now it constantly crashes. I. Want. My. Money. Back. Dont buy this thing, please. I absolutely love the app and the features, the concept is great and it would make your life complete... If only it worked correctly. Its very slow, even slower for searching keywords inside the document and sometimes (often) while youre writing it glitches and you lose all the comments youve made in however pages it decides it didnt save. Oh and this "saving" its supposed to be done automatically, so you dont have any "save button" option.
PDFPen (and the desktop Pro) version have been my "go to" for several years, yet the current iteration on iPad is nearly unusable: 1. Cannot trigger sync without closing window then reopening it. 2. Sync no longer runs in background. 3. Sync not updating changes (none of my updates appear in Dropbox, in spite of repeated forced syncs over the past 30 minutes). 4. Highlighting does not recognize finger drag across text—gets stuck. Only way out is to zoom way in, grab handle, drag until it gets stuck again, zoom in even more, grab handle again, etc. Takes several tries just to highlight a short sentence (single line). 5. After dragging items into folders (which I love), a grayed out copy remains on the screen outside the folder. Probably related to failures in sync process. 6. Moving annotation text box works about 1/4 of the time, if that. 7. Renamed documents dont reflect name changes in Dropbox (again...that sync). And all this in one simple PDF document. Breaks my heart to post a negative review for this app, but the update behaves more like an untested beta than a fully vetted version. ?
Spent $20 dollars so I could edit a paper on my iPhone since I do not have access for a computer. It wont even open the document. That is wasted money down the drain. I followed their directions.
